Overview

Aquilina Timber Floors is an Australian owned and run family business. Anthony Aquilina started laying, sanding and finishing timber floors in 1988, originally working for the late Mr Mark Honeyman. Mark was a master craftsman and he taught Anthony all aspects of timber flooring. Mark encouraged Anthony to venture out on his own and the business started in March 1994. Mark remained a close friend and mentor until his sad passing in December 2002. In 2001, Anthony was very proud to be contracted to restore the original gym floor he and Mark had worked together on in 1988. He continues to look after many of Mark’s former clients to this day, particularly school halls, gymnasiums and community halls.

The business was originally run from home, until moving into our first commercial premises at 2 Taylor St Yarraville. Several family members have worked in the business over the years and others continue today to do so. We actively recruit local people as we are very proud of being a successful small business in the west. The sense of community inherent to our area is very much a part of our company ethos.

Whilst we do a large amount of local work we also work throughout the Melbourne Metropolitan Area. In addition our company travels throughout Victoria to work, frequently as far as the South Gippsland town of Yarram. This is Anthony’s town of origin and where he did his first flooring work. Aquilina Timber Floors also travels to Tasmania annually maintaining halls and stadiums including the Launceston Silverdome. Aquilina Timber Floors was involved in the installation of the Silverdome in 2007.

Aquilina Timber Floors is a long serving and accredited member of the Wood Flooring Association (formerly known as the Victorian Floor Laying and Finishing Association) and also joined the ATFA (Australian Timber Flooring Association) in 2006. These are professional organisations set up by flooring contractors in order to maintain standards in our industry. The WFA offers professional advice and lists its members in the Yellow Pages, under floor sanding. There are qualified assessors who offer assistance and advice, if for any reason you are unsatisfied with work carried out by one of our members. This service is also available if your job has been done by a non-member of our association, however a fee is charged. Aquilina Timber Floors has been a member of the HIA since 2005.

We are very proud of our company team. Our tradespeople wear company uniform and follow company ethos to provide courteous, efficient and highly skilled service to our customers. All employees have undergone a police check.
